The West Kilbride Golf Club has a Junior Section with just over 140 members made up of 110 boys and 30 girls. The Junior Section is organised by a Junior Support Group of club members, each with particular areas of responsibility. Having such a group of volunteer helpers allows the club to provide a wide range of activities to help juniors become good golfers and in time move on to becoming full members ofthe club. The main activites for the junior section are listed below and as many juniors as possible are encouraged to take part.
| Coaching Our club professional, Iain Darroch, provides coaching for new junior members. There is also a squad coaching programme for more advanced players. Individual tuition is also available. Competitions There is a wide range of competitions available for juniors and all are encouraged to play in as many as possible. It is amazing how quickly handicaps reduce over the season. Boys with single figure handicaps are encouraged to play in senior competitions and all girls with CONGU handicaps can play in ladies competitions. Team Matches We play in the Ayrshire Junior Golf League and the club is represented at under 16, under 18 and scratch level, giving opportunities for competitive golf gainst other clubs. There is much competition for team places. Buddy Nights Every Wednesday all juniors are encouraged to attend "buddy night" where we have a short game challenge and under 13s championship. |
